Ever have weeks when you are working wacky hours and feel like maybe your slacking off a little? Maybe you are beginning to slack off a little too much?
I know I have.
So I decided to look into a timer of some kind to keep track of the time I work in any given week. I started my search looking for a free option. I won’t bore you with the ones I tried – that didn’t work for me. Ill just skip the solution I found.
*Note – this is for Mac users.
I found a little app called Caato Time Tracker (*Note – I have no attachments to this app or company). I found it on the Apple App store. There is a free and premium version. For my needs I just use the free version. You simply open the app Add a topic and hit the play button – when you want to pause it – hit the pause button.
You can even track multiple projects if you want. One thing I wish it would do is allow you to time two things at once – but you can’t. So I can’t have a ‘general working timer’ run AND working on ‘project X’ timer running at the same time.
Here are some cool – not so obvious things.
Sometimes I leave my desk and forget to shut off the timer and come back the next day and its still running. No problem – you can go back into the settings and alter the start/stop time back to the way it should be.
Now as the week progresses I get a better sense on when I should be buckling down a little more – or when I maybe have been pushing too hard and ease off a little (yeah – that one doesn’t happen too much – ha).
Give it a try and let me know what you think.
